maybe you should just let this one go and let other groups have the chance to scanlate it? there seems to be no progress... at this point it just looks like you're hoarding good joseis and holding them hostage or something. :/
I'm going to allow this comment to go through, and have revised my earlier reply, because we just did a post earlier this year about this very same topic. (I would italicize and put everything in caps if I could, but that would not make me less irate.) Why not let this project go, you say?
First of all, dude, just dude.
2) I don't own this project; the author and Japanese publishers do. Of course, if another group wants to joint, I'm open to getting it going, but I've had zero offers for this particular project so far. If these other groups think I'm hogging and want to go on and do it on their own, I'm not invested with the power to stop them. Besides, I don't see why two groups (if they cannot reach a compromise) can't work on the same project if they want to.
3) I'm not going to take it off my list unless the publishers tell me to, especially when we've already de-binded and scanned some of the raws, and carmasue00 has already prepped the first chapter for cleans. (I'm not going to torture my staff for nothing.)
4) We mislabeled it, and it's actually seinen, which I don't believe we're hogging because we only have a handful of seinen on our list,
and 5) We like it; We have the raws; We translate very well, and that's why it's there.
Nice one, Hats! I agree with all your points. As someone who could only be a loyal leecher, I would definitely wait for the release. And I strongly believe that it's going to worth it. Keep it up, guys!
After all that's said and done, I can't believe I said what I said. Boy, 4 months can really change a person! I think I'll just jot that one down to PMS or something. :(
Anyway, the first chapter is in the cleaning process right now, so it won't be long before we start churning out chapters. If it doesn't make our anniversary this year, it will definitely make it first thing next month.
The artwork in this manga is consistently good but takes some getting used to. Sometimes I can't help but feel that pervasive gloom in every panel, including comedic ones, but I guess it makes sense as it meshes well with the heavy subject matter. I'm only one chapter into translating right now, and I hope I won't drown in a cesspool of despair by the end of it... But so far, Watanabe Peco has spared me of any grief.
